Raja Bhoj the glorious ruler of Parmar dynasty built a Sanskrit school in Jalore which later came to be used as Topkhana (chamber of cannons). Its pillars bear inscriptions related to Jain and Hindu temple. In later period, Muslim rulers of Jalore converted it to a mosque. During the reign of Rathores its premises were used as an arsenal or magazine and cannons were stored here hence it is called ‘Topkhana’.

The remnants of a grand Sanskrit school and temples are located in the middle of Jalore city in Rajasthan built during the reign of Raja (King) Bhoj of Parmar dynasty, Which retains its full glory even after centuries. King Bhoj was a great scholar of Sanskrit literature. He made Many schools for the promotion of education. The three schools built in Bhoj’s capital Dharanagri, Ajmer and Jalore are identical. In the school of Jalore, crafts on the stones has been worked extremely fine and beautiful. The lotus motifs and other ornamental carvings on its inside upper portions are remarkable and worth seeing.
There is the beautiful main compound in front of the entrance. The roof rests on its massive pillars. Each column can captivate audiences for hours with its intricate workmanship. Engraved florals, bells, chains, creepers, elephants and geometric shapes are wonderful examples of splendor of medieval art.
